Ipswich’s 16th century relics - found all over town - are the focus of this 1943 film.
The video takes viewers on a journey through town, from St Margaret’s Street to the Cornhill with its town hall and Post Office.
It tells how even some of the relatively modern buildings have a “dignity you normally associate with age”.
The video features the “quantily ornamented front, bay windows and carved pillars” of the Ancient House, and the commentator explains this is the finest specimen of old English domestic architecture.
