A MEETING was due to be held today in an effort to move on travellers parked in Ravenswood.

The travellers arrived on a grassy area just south of the Ipswich housing development, off the road leading to Orwell Country Park, on Saturday night or Sunday morning and parked their caravans and mobile homes.

Ginny Waterworth, chairwoman of the Ravenswood Residents Association, said the presence of the travellers had prevented people from walking around the Green Wind art structure, an area known as the Tump.

She added: “It is causing a nuisance and the majority of Ravenswood residents would agree with that.

“Several people have reported it to the police.

“There is a meeting today where all the relevant parties are being gathered together, the police, councillors.

“It has been a very quick response. I am sure they will be leaving quite soon and hopefully measures will be taken to stop it happening again.”
