STUDENTS from an Ipswich school have tried their hand at being journalists for a day.
The sixth formers from Northgate High School visited the Evening Star for an afternoon each this week, to see how the newspaper was produced.
They included Claire Friel and Beth Lister, Gemma Engel and Helen James, Luke Jordan and Claire Mackie, Emma Gaunt and Adeline Houghton.
Tamisha Hunt and Chris King, both 17, spent Friday afternoon with the Star.
Tamisha, who writes for the sixth form magazine, said: "I'd love to be a dancer or an actor in the future but I know it's a tough business to get into."
Chris is considering a career in advertising design, and said his ambition was to design a top advert.
Each day of work experience is varied, but the session generally included a tour of the offices, a chance to write stories for publication, and a chat with the editor.
Some students spent time shadowing a reporter, and they all saw the first copies of the Evening Star being printed on the press.
The work experience was a six-week special initiative between the school and the newspaper, where 60 media studies students are given a taste of journalism.
