A LARGE piece of plastic is the last thing Lee Norris expected when he began to tuck into a tasty pie.

But that is exactly what he was faced with when his hungry family sat down to eat dinner.

The father of three from Gloucester Road, on the Gainsborough estate, found the unexpected delight after he took the pie out of the oven and began to slice it up for his family.

When cutting the McDougalls chicken and asparagus pie, he sensed something hard and then discovered a large piece of blue plastic, which looked as though it had come off a part of a machine.

The 37-year-old, who is currently unemployed, said: “When the pie was cooked, I went to cut it but it was still hard inside. I thought that was a bit odd but then I saw this blue thing.

“I know it sounds silly but I thought it was a prize, like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Then I realised it was just a large piece of plastic.

“I thought it was quite funny at first because it was so large, I don't see how they could have missed it.

“It looked like it came from a giant spatula or a machine to mix the dough up. I couldn't get over it. It could have been dangerous if my children had tried to eat it.”

Despite writing to the firm about the incident, Mr Norris has heard nothing.

Despite several calls to the company, no one from McDougalls was unavailable for comment.
