A display of vintage taxi items has been launched at Ipswich Transport Museum as its new season gets underway.
Taxi drivers John Winlow and David Pettman began compiling items from former colleagues in May last year, and last month launched the display at the museum in Cobham Road – the first taxi-related display the museum has had.
He said: “It’s absolutely fantastic, and it’s something I have been thinking about for so long, so to have that display up and running is marvellous.”
Mr Winlow is currently compiling a book of stories from Ipswich cabbies, and is encouraging anyone with memorabilia for the collection to contact him on john.winlow@hotmail.com.
Museum manager Wayne Mann added: “The taxi is one of the things missing from our collection, so it is nice to have that involved.”
An egg hunt takes place at the museum on Monday, with fire engine rides and games.
