A SUFFOLK teacher has pleaded guilty to 21 charges of making indecent photos of children under 16.

Paul Sear, 54, also pleaded guilty to one charge of distributing indecent photos of children under 16.

He made the plea at Bury St Edmunds Crown Court today and is due to be sentenced on March 28.

Judge Gareth Hawkesworth warned Sear that he could expect a custodial sentence due to the very nature of the photos taken.

Sear, from Burrell Road, Ipswich was a teacher for 27 years, 22 of those teaching science at Stowupland High School.

He was arrested at his home in Hadleigh and charged last May after police experts examined computer equipment found at his home.

The court heard how Sear has referred himself to St Clements Hospital, in Ipswich, where he is receiving treatment from a psychiatrist and a psychosexual counsellor.

The offences are said to have been committed between August 13, 2001, and May 16, 2002.
