Teacher sent to crown court

A TEACHER accused of indecently assaulting a schoolgirl was today sent to Crown Court.

East Bergholt High School religious education teacher Frank Schmidt has denied the allegations.

The alleged offence is said to have been committed between July 14 and August 14 last year.

At a previous court hearing in Ipswich magistrates declined jurisdiction of his case.

Today, the 34-year-old, of George Street, Hadleigh, was committed to Ipswich Crown Court by magistrates.

He was released on unconditional bail to appear at Ipswich Crown Court for a plea and directions hearing on April 5.
