A TEENAGER has been arrested by police investigating an alleged stabbing in an Ipswich street.

An 18-year-old man from the Ipswich area has been released on bail after being arrested in connection with the incident, which took place on July 24, and will return to Ipswich police station on August 27.

The attack, which is believed to have involved a screwdriver, took place in broad daylight in busy London Road at around 2.30pm.

A 23-year-old man from Ipswich was left with puncture wounds to his head and neck and required hospital treatment.

Police had been called to the scene following reports that a group of men had been brawling near the Sainsbury's superstore in Hadleigh Road.

The group was seen fleeing towards Sainsbury's petrol station car park when one of them launched a brick through a window of a BMW 520 car.
