A YOUNG father viciously attacked the teenage brother of his girlfriend, before tying him up and robbing him, a court heard today.

Peter Green, 20, of Kelly Road, Ipswich, was living with his girlfriend Linda Skilton at a house in Birkfield Drive, Ipswich, when he set upon 17 year old Aidan Bentman on August 15 this year.

Ipswich Crown Court heard Bentman was punched and kicked in the head suffering a suspected broken eye socket and Green, who is originally from Liverpool, then used a mobile phone charge cable to bind the boy's wrists and ankles before making off with his jewellery, mobile phone, watch and wallet.

Green also stole a CD player and suitcase from the house.

Green pleaded guilty today to one count of robbery and one count of theft.

He told the court that he was very sorry about the incident and said that he felt so guilty he gave himself up to police a few weeks after the attack.

He added that he was high on crack cocaine during the assault and expressed a wish to lead a crime free life after he left jail.

Sentencing Green to three and a half years in prison, Judge Peter Thompson described the attack as "horrific" and said that the punishment would have been much more severe had Green not turned himself in and expressed a clear desire to change his ways.
