RELATIVES of a Suffolk cyclist who died after a collision with a car, are today in mourning.The accident happened on the B1077 at Occold, near Eye at 7pm yesterday, and is the seventh fatality on the county's roads so far this year.

RELATIVES of a Suffolk cyclist who died after a collision with a car, are today in mourning.

The accident happened on the B1077 at Occold, near Eye at 7pm yesterday, and is the seventh fatality on the county's roads so far this year.

The teenage boy was taken to Ipswich Hospital suffering from serious injuries, but later died. He has not yet been named. Police said the male driver of the car was not believed to have been injured.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: "A car and a bicycle were involved in the accident and sadly the male on the bicycle has died in hospital.

"There are no further details available at this time however police would appeal for any witnesses to the accident to contact us."

The road was closed while paramedics and police attended to the scene of the tragedy and local diversions were put in place.

It remained closed for most of the evening as crash investigators examined the site.

A spokeswoman for the East Anglian Ambulance Service confirmed it had send two vehicles to the scene.

She added one male teenage casualty had been taken to Ipswich Hospital.

The coroner will be informed of the tragedy and an inquest take place at a later date.
