A 16-year-old girl was approached by a man in Ipswich on Saturday who asked her to get in his car.

Police believe the accosting may be linked to an incident on Thursday March 16 in Downing Road where a ten-year-old girl was also approached.

On Saturday, March 18, a 16-year-old girl was walking in Sheldrake Drive at around 8.35am close to the bus stop near the junction with Dunlin Road when a man in a navy blue car pulled alongside her and tried to engage her in conversation.

A police spokesman said: β€œHe asked her to go with him and she repeatedly had to tell him no.”

He is described as black, of thin build, possibly in his late 20s to 40s, with dreadlocks down to his chin.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a gold chain and gold bracelets on his wrists, a black T-shirt with a picture and writing on it and jeans.

On Thursday March 16 between 8.30am and 8.40am, a ten-year-old girl was climbing on some off-road concrete stairs in Downing Close in Chantry Park, Ipswich.

A man is reported to have approached her and tried to encourage her to go with him.

The girl told police officers she felt uncomfortable about the situation and ran off up the stairs.

When she looked back the man was running in the opposite direction.
