POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was forced to the ground and kicked in the head in Bridge Street last night.The 16-year-old walked from Uncle Toms Cabin towards the Post Office in the same street before a black male, around the same age, approached him for a cigarette.

The 16-year-old walked from Uncle Toms Cabin towards the Post Office in the same street before a black male, around the same age, approached him for a cigarette.

The victim handed over a cigarette and carried on walking but was jumped upon from behind and forced to the ground.

He was kicked in the head and could feel someone going through his pockets.

The offenders made their escape in the direction of Vernon Street and a group of 10-15 males were seen running away from the area when the robbery took place.

The attacker was described as of slim build and wearing a hooded top.
