A TEENAGER will appear in court this morning charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident in a Suffolk village.

The 18-year-old has been charged following an incident which happened at a house in Stow Road, Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds, at about 6pm on Wednesday.

Daryl Trevers, of Stow Road, Ixworth, has been charged with attempted murder and was last night being held in custody.

He is due to appear at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates Court this morning.

A 41-year-old man remains in a stable condition in Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where he underwent surgery for his wounds.

Earlier yesterday, villagers told of their shock at the incident.

Few of the residents in Stow Road, Ixworth, were aware of the incident on Wednesday evening until they awoke to find police cars parked outside their homes the following morning.

Officers were called to one of the old red-brick council houses in Stow Road by the ambulance service after a 41-year-old man was injured at about 6pm on Wednesday.

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “We have arson incidents and things but nothing like this. It is the talk of the village - absolutely everybody was talking about it.''

Another neighbour said he had heard nothing at the time the alleged incident took place and said he only discovered something was amiss when the police cars arrived.
