A TEENAGER has been charged with possessing an ornamental sword as an offensive weapon following an incident in a town centre.
The 18-year-old man, who is from Colchester, is also charged with using threatening behaviour and possessing a quantity of cannabis. The charges follow an incident in Colchester in September.
Police were contacted shortly after 2pm on Tuesday, September 22 following reports that a man had been struck on the head with a weapon in East Stockwell Street.
The 26-year-old man was taken to Colchester General Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
The 18-year-old was bailed to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on January 7. His name has not yet been released by police.

A 17-year-old boy who was arrested in connection with the same incident at East Stockwell Street, is currently on bail to December 21 pending further enquiries.
