A 17-year-old Ipswich male accused of indecently assaulting two women and two schoolgirls, was today cleared of one of the charges against him.

The prosecution in the case at Ipswich Crown Court offered no evidence against him on a charge of indecent assault on a woman due to witness problems.

Judge John Devaux directed the jury to clear the boy of that offence.

The case will now proceed on three charges of indecent assault which the boy, who has a learning difficulty and cannot be named because of his age, has denied.

It has been alleged that the boy touched a 15-year-old girl between her legs as she was walking along Mildmay Road, Ipswich and several hours later did the same thing to a woman in Romney Road, Ipswich.

The boy is also alleged to have approached a 15-year-old girl in Landseer Park and asked her if she wanted to have sex.

Giving evidence today, the girl told the court via a TV video link that she had felt very frightened and had screamed at the top of her voice before running home.

The case continues.
