Teenager dies in Dedham crash

A TEENAGE girl died when the car in which she was travelling left the road and hit a telegraph pole in Dedham, Essex.

The 17-year-old was a passenger in a Ford Escort being driven by a 41-year-old when the accident happened at 12.

The 17-year-old was a passenger in a Ford Escort being driven by a 41-year-old when the accident happened at 12.05am today.

The car was travelling along Long Road East, in Dedham, in the direction of Colchester when the female driver is believed to have lost control at a left-hand bend.

The car left the carriageway and collided with a telegraph pole.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman was taken to Colchester Hospital suffering slight injuries. Both come from Lawford.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident and have asked that anyone with information contact Pc Tina Clothier, at Stanway Road Policing Unit, 01206 762512.
