Teenager drowned in Orwell

IPSWICH police confirmed today that David Callaghan whose body was found in the River Orwell last month had alcohol, cannabis and ecstasy tablets in his system at the time of his death.

IPSWICH police confirmed today that David Callaghan whose body was found in the River Orwell last month had alcohol, cannabis and ecstasy tablets in his system at the time of his death.

The results of the toxicology tests carried out on the 17-year-old's body come after a post mortem examination confirmed that he died from drowning.

Enquiries into the teenager's death are ongoing. Ipswich police have renewed their appeal for any witnesses who may have seen Mr Callaghan on the evening of October 27 or the early hours of October 28 in the Ranelagh Road or Burrell Road area of the town to get in touch.

The coroner will be provided with a copy of the toxicology results and an inquest will be held in due course.
