A 16-year-old boy has been mugged in a Stowmarket park.

The victim was walking across Recreation Park in Recreation Road at around 10.15pm yesterday when he was approached by two men, who looked to be in their early 20s.

After sparking up a conversation with their victim, one of the men asked him if he had any money and ordered him to empty his pockets.

When the boy did so, the same man grabbed a quantity of cash and the pair made off towards the town centre.

Although shaken by the ordeal, the boy was left unhurt.

Both muggers are described as white, around 6ft 3ins tall and between 20 and 25 years old. Both were wearing beany hats.

One had a bulky build with chubby cheeks and was wearing a black puffa jacket with a Nike tick on the front.

The second man was of medium build and was wearing a jumper with an Ipswich Town shirt over the top.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information should contact Pc Hannah Bushnell on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111.
