AN IPSWICH teenager has been remanded in custody as he awaits his fate for going equipped to steal while under a 12-month conditional discharge for a similar offence.
AN IPSWICH teenager has been remanded in custody as he awaits his fate for going equipped to steal while under a 12-month conditional discharge for a similar offence.
Policed stopped 18-year-old Andrew Haines at about 4.50am on August 13 last year as he cycled in the dock area of Ipswich.
He was searched and found with various tools, including spanners, screwdrivers and a set of car keys.
Haines, of Kingfisher Avenue, pleaded guilty to the charge of going equipped when he appeared before South East Suffolk magistrates and admitted committing the offence while under a conditional discharge he had been given by the same court for a similar crime in May last year.
He also pleaded guilty to two offences of failing to surrender to custody, relating to failed court appearances on September 9 and December 7 last year. In addition he admitted breaching his bail conditions when he was found breaking a curfew by being in town at 2.30am on December 31.
Mark Holt mitigating said: "He is 18-years-old and has only been in trouble on one previous occasion, in May last year.

"He is not a criminally minded as such."
Magistrates ordered reports to be written and remanded Haines in custody until his next appearance before the court on January 28.
