A TEENAGER has been remanded in custody today in connection with a hit and run incident which left an off duty police officer with leg injuries.Thomas Abbott, 18, of Ancaster Road, Ipswich, has been charged with assault, dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without insurance and a valid licence.

Thomas Abbott, 18, of Ancaster Road, Ipswich, has been charged with assault, dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without insurance and a valid licence.
He appeared before magistrates in Lowestoft today. No pleas were entered and the case was adjourned to South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court on August 15.
He was charged last night after 31-year-old Carl Smith, who works for the Civil Nuclear Constabulary at Sizewell, was involved in a collision with a car in Elm Road, Wangford, on Friday.
