AN ASIAN teenager was robbed at knifepoint by a gang on a train bound for Ipswich.

The attack happened on the 11pm GER London Liverpool Street to Ipswich train at around midnight last night.

The attack happened on the 11pm GER London Liverpool Street to Ipswich train at around midnight last night.

The 19-year-old victim, who comes from the Harwich area, boarded the train at Colchester and the muggers struck between there and Manningtree rail station.

Two white youths, aged around 17 or 18, robbed their victim of a black and brown leather wallet containing around £150 and his driving licence. A knife was seen during the attack.

The muggers were among a gang of five youths who are believed to have travelled on to Ipswich rail station where the train terminated at around quarter past midnight today.

Detectives are trawling through CCTV footage taken at Ipswich station in an attempt to identify the group and the attackers.

The victim, who got off the train at Manningtree station after the attack, is believed to have been uninjured in the robbery.

One of the robbers was wearing a cream white baseball cap and had blonde hair. He was wearing a black or dark bomber jacket. The other mugger had dark brown hair and was wearing a black jacket.
