A TEENAGER is still in a critical condition today after falling while surfing on the bonnet of a car.

Ambulances were called to the multi storey car park in Parkway, Bury St Edmunds, at shortly before 2pm yesterday after reports of a man suffering serious head injuries.

The injured man, believed to be in his late teens, was flown by air ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

He is said to be fighting for his life in the neurocritical care unit in Addenbrooke's.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said officers were called to the scene at around 2pm.

The spokeswoman said: “A young man believed to be in his late teens has sustained serious head injuries.

“Police were contacted by ambulance crews who reported that someone had fallen from a moving vehicle on level 11 of the car park.

“Early indications are that the teenager may have fallen from the bonnet of a black Ford Escort while attempting to car surf.”

A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been bailed to return to Bury St Edmunds police station on July 16.

Anyone who witnessed the black Escort prior to the accident or who with information on the incident is asked to contact Bury St Edmunds CID on 01284 774100.
