Temporary traffic lights were back at the junction of Portman Road and Handford Road again today . . . for the 17th time since November last year.
However this time the work has nothing to do with BT – and engineers at Suffolk County Council worked to ensure disruption was minimised.
They replaced a street light – and ensured that the temporary lights were gone by the start of the evening rush hour.
A spokesman for the council said: “We are acutely aware of the issues that have surrounded this junction and everyone involved is determined to complete the work as soon as possible. It should only take four or five hours.”
The work started at 9.30am and a senior engineer from Endeavour House was monitoring progress to try to ensure no problems emerged to delay its completion. The work was completed by 4pm and the temporary lights were removed.
