IT'S only summer but burns survivor Terri Calvesbert is already begging for Christmas to arrive.

For the five-year-old, who suffered 85 per cent burns in 1998, is set to fly to Lapland for the day on December 23.

Excited Terri is one of dozens of children in the Burns Club at Broomfield Hospital, to have signed up for the special trip to see Santa, his sleigh and reindeer in the snow.

The occasion will see the hospital chartering a plane for the occasion.

All the children will come home in tiem to hang up their stockings on Christmas Eve.

Terri's dad Paul, 28, said: "Every day she asks how long it is until Christmas, and she just can't wait!"

By then she will have a new look too, as a new wig is being prepared for her.

Paul said it would probably be longer than her current style, which is getting worn out.

She gets to try the new wig on, the day before she returns to school next month.

Terri has just returned home to Whitton, in Ipswich, from hospital in Chelmsford after having metal pins taken out of her hand.

Plastic surgeon Peter Dziewulski carried out an operation on her left hand in July, and hopes she will regain movement in it eventually.

Paul said: "Peter's very pleased with her progress. She just has to go back once a month for a check-up now."
