Terri was invited to start the

Santa Run in Newtown, Wales, yesterday after the organisers had read about her ordeal.

Terri, now seven, was burned in a house fire at her home in Orwell Heights, Ipswich, in 1998 shortly before her second birthday.

Although she suffered 90 per cent burns her and her father, Paul, campaign tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for the several operations she will need throughout her life.

Mr Calvesbert, who lives in the Whitehouse area, said: “The day was lots of fun and even the weather held out for us.

“We went to Wales the night before and met with all the organizers and volunteers for Dial-ARide, the charity which held the event.

“When we were first asked to come it sounded like it would be a fun event but you cannot understand what 4,000 Santa's will look like until they are right in front of you - it was certainly a spectacular sight.”

It is thought more than 200 of the Santas completed the 4.5 mile run in aid of The Terri Calvesbert Appeal and many more handed Terri and her farther cheques on the day.

He added: “On the day Terri wandered around meeting everyone and stopping for a chat.

“They all seemed so pleased to meet her and it was great to be given the cheques.''
