TERRI Calvesbert is today looking forward to buying a bridesmaid's dress after her dad Paul popped the question to his girlfriend Nicky Lowry.

Until Paul met Nicky, Terri had not had a mother-figure in her life since her own mum walked out in 1998, but the proposal has laid the foundations for a very happy future for the family.

Paul, 35, said: “I'd always said I would never get married again but Nicky's changed that.

It just feels right.

“Using a very special bunch of flowers, he popped the question last Wednesday, surprising Nicky, 38, as she got home from work.

He said: “She was always saying that I'm not very romantic so I thought I would make her eat her words.

“I got a big bunch of flowers delivered to the house that said 'Will you marry me?' on them.

“I think she was shocked but she said 'yes' in between all the tears.

“Nicky said: “When I got to his after work he said there had been a delivery for me, which I thought was a bit odd as nothing would normally go to his house for me.

“It was a dozen red roses with a note on them saying 'Will you marry me?' “It came completely out of the blue but it was a very nice surprise and I don't think there's anybody more pleased than Terri.

“Paul said the news has delighted Terri who has got on brilliantly with Nicky since they first met at the end of 2004.

He said: “When we told her she was so excited. She can't wait to go out and buy her bridesmaid's dress and just wants to get back to school and tell everyone.

“Nicky said: “She actually cried when we told her, you could see the tears in her little eyes. We said 'why are you crying?' and she just said 'because I'm so happy'.

“Paul met Nicky, a call centre supervisor at AXA, on the internet just over 18 months ago.

At the moment she lives near Colchester but is hoping to move in with Paul and Terri before the end of the year.

Paul said: “We haven't set a date for the wedding yet but we think it will probably be in a year or so.”
