A charity that tackles youth homelessness in Suffolk is calling on people to bed down outside for a night as part of a fundraising campaign.

The Benjamin Foundation, which is contracted by Suffolk County Council to provide accommodation and support for the county’s 16-25-year-olds, is hosting a ‘sleep out’ on Friday, November 3.

Chris Elliott, marketing and fundraising manager, said: “It’s not like being homeless genuinely of course, but it’s a reality check of what it feels like to spend a night outside in November.”

The charity runs supervised accommodation in Ipswich and Stowmarket, and also recruits ‘hosts’ who give a young person a room to stay in their own home.

The event will be held outside Constantine House in Ipswich from 7pm to 7am and participants will be able to use the building’s facilities.

Registration is £25 and people are asked to raise £100 in sponsorship.

To sign up, visit the charity’s website or email Chris.
