It was a feat that took maximum effort from these members of the Boys Brigade in 1983 - racing a homemade raft along the River Gipping.
But it was a challenge nonetheless enjoyed by this group of lads in Ipswich in 1983.
The rafts could be made from anything, from oil drums pieced together with planks of wood to empty gallon water bottles - anything that would keep the boys afloat as they raced their crafts down the rivers.
The Boys Brigade was first formed in 1883 and at one time had 21 companies in Ipswich alone, with their goal to promote Christianity to children aged from six to 18. The 4th Brigade in Ipswich closed in 2010 after 90 years of operating in the town.
