Walker's arrest and the death of his wife, Glenda, has also devastated the family of Ipswich football legend Sir Bobby Robson.
Sir Bobby's son Mark is married to the Walkers' daughter, Jane.
Silver-haired Walker appeared on Thursday at South-East Suffolk Magistrates Court, where he faced a charge of murder.
