IPSWICH: The Regent Theatre will be celebrating its 80th anniversary by reminiscing with a Cliff Richard tribute band for a bargain price.

Birthday celebrations are set to take place on November 5 when tribute act Kytsun Wolfe come to town.

It has been over 50 years since Cliff last took to the stage of the Regent to sing hits such as High Class baby and I Love You. A night that cost fans just 15 shillings (75 pence).

And to allow all fans to enjoy the rocking hits of the past the Regent has returned to the 1960's - with tickets on sale for the original price of 75 pence.

Cliff has also been reminiscing over his night spent in the Regent after sending an affectionate letter of appreciation to General Manager of the Regent Theatre, David Mansfield.

He writes: “It's many years since I played the Ipswich Regent Theatre, but I send my warmest congratulations on its 80th anniversary.”

Mr Mansfield said: “It's great to hear from Cliff, he is obviously an extremely busy person and for him to the time to write us a little note is just great.”

When discussing the birthday celebrations he added: “80 years is really quite an achievement - back then Ipswich was a really different place.

“People often think that ticket prices here at the Regent are expensive and quite often they are. But this night allows for anyone and everyone to come and enjoy the night.”
