Even without the filters, the towering cranes at the Port of Felixstowe make an impressive backdrop to any photo.

And the angular metalwork is proving popular with Instagram snappers with many local members of the image-based social media platform sharing photos of it.

Using the filter options they have made the docks, which is the sixth busiest port in Europe and the 35th busiest in the world, look even more compelling.

Some users have captured the docks at the start or end of the day, with the winter sun casting a warm glow over the awkward-looking cranes that juxtapose the natural waterside scenery.

Others have focused in on the water that surrounds this hive of industry while some have preferred to look at the ships that sail in and out at all times of the day and night, collecting and dropping off precious cargo.
