Therapy for child sex call perv

A man has been ordered to undergo sex therapy after calling a children's centre and claiming he was abusing a young girl.

The pervert called the Children's Resource Centre, in Crabbe Street, Ipswich to say he was performing a sex act with an eight-year-old girl present.

South East Suffolk Magistrates Court heard Nigel Fisher, 36, of King's Quay Street, Harwich, was making a hoax call and was not actually abusing anyone.

Joanne Eley, prosecuting, told magistrates Fisher called the centre and said: "Do you deal in children?"

Fisher then said he had an eight-year-old girl, dressed in her school uniform and lying on a bed in front of him.

Miss Eley said he then went on to describe the sex act he was enacting.

The woman who took the call at the centre tried to keep Fisher on the line. She called the police when he put the phone down.

Miss Eley said police were able to trace Fisher through BT's nuisance caller service.

Trevor Linn, defending, said the community would be better protected through long-term monitoring rather than a short prison spell.

He said Fisher had made the call with the intention of being caught as he was worried he might commit a more serious offence.

Mr Linn told magistrates Fisher was keen to seek an answer to his problem and had asked a psychiatrist to prescribe him a libido-suppressing drug.

Fisher had managed to find a steady job and was in a relationship with an adult woman, Mr Linn told the court.

He said his client now had enough stability in his life to deal with his problem.

Magistrate chairman Diane Hunt told Fisher: "We would normally consider the expected sentence would be custody.

"The impact upon the victim was frightening and quite horrible, we could find no mitigating factors."

But Mrs Hunt agreed with Mr Linn and said a three-year community rehabilitation order, including regular sex therapy sessions, was the best way to protect the community.

Fisher was also ordered to pay £55 costs.
