Thief runs into trouble

A BUNGLING thief ended up in hospital after he tried to steal a power tool from an Ipswich firm.

The alleged shoplifter was spotted trying to make off with the tool from Connell's Building Supplies in Foxhall Road, Ipswich, just before 3pm yesterday.

A BUNGLING thief ended up in hospital after he tried to steal a power tool from an Ipswich firm.

The alleged shoplifter was spotted trying to make off with the tool from Connell's Building Supplies in Foxhall Road, Ipswich, just before 3pm yesterday.

After he was apprehended he ran off into the road and straight into a parked vehicle.

Staff at the firm called an ambulance for the man whose injuries were described as "not life threatening."

Police were called and the alleged offender was taken to the Ipswich Hospital in Heath Road to be treated for eye injuries.

Meanwhile, it was all's well that end's well for the firm as the power tool was recovered.

A police spokesperson said: "Yes this did happen at about 2.45 pm yesterday afternoon.

"Someone went into the shop and ran into a parked vehicle. He then went to hospital. We haven't had chance to interview him but will be doing so."

Police have not made any arrests at this time.
