AN IPSWICH schoolgirl was left heartbroken after she saved for months to buy Christmas presents only to have them stolen.

Rhian Claydon bought two gifts with her pocket money before dropping into McDonald's in Tavern Street with her friend, Dainer Sykes, on Thursday between 11 am and 12 noon.

It wasn't until the St Albans pupil arrived home ready to wrap the presents it dawned on the 11-year-old she'd accidentally left them at the Ipswich town centre restaurant.

Rhian burst into tears and told her mother who made a frantic phone call to Macdonald's. A staff member searched the premises but by that time the bag had already gone.

Upset Rhian, of Landseer Road, told The Star: "I was upset about it. I saved for ages to save up my pocket money for the presents: one was for my mum and one was for a friend.

"I really want it back. If it was a grown up, they could probably afford to get new ones. I was really happy when I had bought them but when I came home and they weren't there I was crying."

The presents were in a white carrier bag with Hair and Body Additions on the side. In it was an £11 voucher to have nails done and a £10 decorative belly button ring.

She left it on the middle floor of the Macdonald's restaurant on a four-seater table.

Her mum Christine, said: "It was unfortunate because she had been saving up for a long time. Obviously she is a young child and has saved up two to three months for it.

"She got her money together and wanted to buy gifts. The bag wasn't obviously wasn't handed in."
