IPSWICH Docks became the target of thieves when a lorry containing £400,000 of goods was taken from a transport yard.

Detectives launched an investigation after the lorry was stolen from the yard in Tovells Wharf some time between 5pm on Sunday and 5am yesterday.

The P-reg, white Iveco 400 lorry was later found abandoned in Charlton but the 40ft Tasker trailer and the silver and grey container with the words Yang Ming on the side which it was carrying are still missing.

Ladies clothing, including jeans, t-shirts and jackets, more than 20,000 AA guides, 7,000 remote controls and copper wire were being transported in the container.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident or from anyone with information about the whereabouts of the trailer, container and its contents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Liz Winzer at Ipswich CID on 01473 383133 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
