RELEGATION in all its harsh reality will come home to Ipswich fans on Saturday, August 10 when the new League season begins – with a trip to Walsall.

The 9,369 capacity Bescot Stadium is a far cry from anything Town fans experienced last season. And the point is underscored by the first-day fixtures of the three sides newly promoted from Division One.

All three new Premiership sides must travel for their opening fixtures, on August 17. West Bromwich Albion visit Manchester United, and Manchester City go to Leeds.

Norwich's play-off defeat is also rubbed in by the fixtures computer – rather than the visit to Arsenal which Birmingham City can look forward to, the Canaries will start the new season at home to Grimsby.

Ipswich's first home game of the new campaign will be against Leicester City on Saturday, August 17.

Norwich will visit Portman Road on Saturday, September 14, with the return at Carrow Road on Saturday, March 1.
