SUFFOLK gardening company Thompson & Morgan has acquired leading plant food manufacturer Chempak, it emerged today,

Thompson & Morgan is currently conducting a full review of the product range and plans to continue with the majority of products.

Plans to expand the availability of Chempak products through an exclusive number of leading independent garden centres are underway.

John May, Thompson & Morgan chief executive said: “We are planning for a 2010 launch of Chempak under T&M ownership. “Chempak is a brand that will sit well alongside existing T&M products and we look forward to introducing our customers to the benefits of the excellent feeds and fertilisers in the Chempak range.

“We're really pleased to be able to offer the Chempak range of affordable and effective plant and vegetable enhancing products.”

A business started from the garage of chemist and gardener Bill Richardson's home in 1967, Chempak quickly grew to become an established and recognised brand.

Those humble beginnings echo the history behind Thompson & Morgan, which started life in a small garden behind a bakers shop in Ipswich before going on to become the internationally renowned and industry leading brand it is today.
