A THREE car pile-up caused rush-hour traffic chaos on the A12 at Capel St Mary today.

The accident happened in the London-bound carriageway, one mile away from the B1070, at 8.24am and one lane was closed due to the vehicles and debris.

Traffic was said to be backed up to the Capel St Mary Little Chef within ten minutes of the crash.

An ambulance spokesman said they had not been called to the accident - any injuries suffered were considered very minor.

Two of the vehicles, a Ford Fiesta and a Renault Laguna, were recovered by breakdown trucks while the third vehicle could be driven away under its own steam.
