RUSH hour traffic was caught up in the backlog of a three-car pile-up on the Felixstowe bound slip road at Trimley St Mary.

The accident happened at 5.10pm yesterday and involved Volkswagen Golf, a Ford Sierra and a Rover Metro, though it is believed that only two cars were involved in the initial collision.

All three emergency services attended the crash although nobody was taken to hospital.

The fire service was called to attend the scene as smoke was seen to be coming from one of the cars.

The road was partially blocked which led to an increased traffic build up until all three cars were recovered from the scene.

Suffolk Police said an investigation into the incident would take place.
