THREE senior council figures have lost their jobs with the authority today in the wake of the Baby P tragedy.
Haringey Council leader George Meehan and cabinet member for children and young people Liz Santry both resigned, while the head of children's services, Sharon Shoesmith, has been removed from her post.
It comes after Children's Secretary Ed Balls ordered an urgent review of welfare services at the north London authority, a report which today revealed “devastating and damning” failings in the council's systems.
Baby P, a young boy, was killed while on the council's child protection register.
