Three people who were arrested in relation to an Ipswich murder inquiry have been released by police.
Yesterday, Tuesday, October 2, Suffolk police arrested two people on suspicion of murder in relation to the death of Joe Pooley, 22 from Ipswich.
A 28-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman from Ipswich were taken into custody on Tuesday, October 2.
A third person was arrested today, Wednesday, October 3, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
They were all questioned at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre and subsequently released, with two granted bail until November 4.
Mr Pooley’s body was discovered by a dog walker at around 10.30am on Monday, August 13, in the river near London Road, close to Suffolk Retail Park.
A post mortem examination, carried out the following day, revealed the likely cause of death was ‘immersion in water’.
At first Suffolk police were treating Mr Pooley’s death as unexplained.
However, yesterday a police spokesman confirmed investigating officers had arrested a 28-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from Ipswich, on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, October 2.
Police also carried out a search of a property in Foxhall Road in Ipswich yesterday, Wednesday, October 2, as part of the murder probe.
Up to six police cars were spotted near the block of flats. Witnesses also reported seeing police forensics vans in the area.
A spokesman for Suffolk Police added: “Initially, Mr Pooley’s death was being treated as unexplained. However, further enquiries have led to Tuesday’s arrests.”
A 36-year-old woman was then arrested today, Wednesday, October 3, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in relation the inquiry.
