Three-way traffic light control in Bramford Road after gas leak reports could last until next week

Engineers set-up the three-way traffic light control after the rush hour on Tuesday morning and are still working to find the affected gas pipe.
The engineering work is causing added disruption to rush-hour traffic in the mornings and evenings in Bramford Road and the surrounding area, including Norwich Road.
An estimated completion date of Monday next week has been set but a National Grid spokesman said there were “no guarantees” it would be fully resolved by then.
She said: “National Grid engineers are working to repair a gas escape in the junction of Bramford Road and Sproughton Road, after a smell of gas was reported on Monday evening.
“There are a number of gas mains within this junction and engineers are working to pinpoint the exact location of the leak and repair it as quickly as possible.
“Temporary traffic lights have been installed at the junction to safeguard engineers and road users while the repair is under way.
