Ipswich Town, TV filming and Royal Mail Sorting Office opens by Bonthcho Guencthev feature in another edition of our nostalgia series, Throwback Thursday.
In another edition of our Throwback Thursday series, we cast our minds back to September, 1994.
It was a month that saw Ipswich Town player Bontcho Guentchev display his balls skills when he was officially opening the Ipswich Royal Mail Sorting Offices on Commercial Road.
The footballer took part in the first open day at the office, kicking off the event, which was organised to raise funds for the children’s wards at Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds Hospitals.
There was also filming taking place that month at the St Pancras Church for the ITV crime drama series The Ruth Rendell Mysteries, which ran for 12 series from 1987 to 2000.
Ipswich Town also went on to beat Manchester United 3-2 at Portman Road in front of a crowd of 22,000-plus fans as Paul Mason scored twice and Steve Sedgley scoring the other for the Blues, with the likes of Roy Keane, Paul Scoles and Eric Cantona playing for the Red Devils.
