TONS of timber has started washing ashore on the Kent coast between Margate and Ramsgate after it was lost from a Russian cargo ship in the English channel.
About 1,500 tons of cut timber was lost from the Sinegorsk after it got into trouble early yesterday.
Police warned that the timber remained the property of the original owner and appealed to people to stay away from the shore where it was washing up because of dangerous weather conditions.
