A HOST of top acts are heading to an Ipswich nightclub in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Chart topping stars DJ Luck & MC Neat and Pied Piper & Sharky P will be among those heading for the Opium Lounge next month in an event for Children in Need.

The DJs are all donating their time for free for the night at the Tacket Street club on November 15.

Entry to the event will also be free but clubbers are asked to make a donation of at least £5 to the charity. Collectors in fancy dress will also be going round the club in a bid to boost the sum raised for the fund.

Mark Dawson, Opium Lounge manager, said he hopes the event will raise in the region of £6,000.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to it. It will be one of the biggest events of its kind in Ipswich.

"There's a lot of big acts who are giving their time up for free to come here.

"It's on a Thursday night so we are hoping that some people will sacrifice a Friday night and come out on the Thursday instead."

If the event is a success Mr Dawson said there may be similar nights at the club in the future.

"We will see how this one goes first but we might be looking at doing a charity night every three months or so," he said.

"There are a mixture of acts for this one, some who have had chart success and also some underground DJs, so there should be something for everyone.

"We are also hoping that there will be some Ipswich Town players here on that night but it depends on if there are any fixtures around then."

DJ Luck and MC Neat were MOBO award winners last year and are probably best known for their hit tune With A Little Bit Of Luck. Pied Piper and Sharky P topped the charts earlier this year with the summer smash, Do You Really Like It.

Other names on the bill for the November 15 include Genius Crew, Lady Spirit, DJ Jolie, EZ and Matt "Jam" Lamont.

The event, which is strictly for over 18's only starts at 9pm and finishes at 2pm.
