TWO teenage boys have left a top private school in shame today after it was found they had been using drugs there.

The boys, aged 13 and 15, were discovered smoking cannabis at St Joseph's College, in Birkfield, Ipswich.

One of the boys smuggled the drug into the school. He and the other boy then smoked the drug on the school grounds.

St Joseph's has said both boys left voluntarily after meetings between the school and their parents - but added the school has a zero tolerance policy on drug use.

Neither of the boys have been named, and it is thought that one of them brought the drug in from his Essex home.

The boy was a boarding student and had been at the school for just two terms, the other pupil tried out the cannabis with him.

Parents pay up to £16,000 a year for their children to go to St Joseph's and the school prides itself on its reputation within the community.

A spokeswoman for the school confirmed that the boys had been disciplined when it was discovered they had been using cannabis.

A meeting with parents was called last week but the spokeswoman said: "We tried to offer support but we will not tolerate this within the college.

"The college has a zero tolerance on this and it has now been resolved.

"Unfortunately it is a problem at all schools nowadays."
