RIVERDANCE - The Farewell Tour is coming back to Ipswich, it has today been announced.

The show will play the Regent Theatre from Monday March 15 to Saturday March 20 2010.

David Mansfield, general manager at the venue said: “The Ipswich Regent Theatre is delighted to welcome back Riverdance.

“Their record breaking performances on their last visit helped Ipswich secure one of the prestigious places in the final release of dates of The Farewell Tour.

“On Riverdance's previous visit to Ipswich many customers were left disappointed when their performances entirely sold out so this will be a great opportunity to experience this spectacular production for the last time in the UK.”

Composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Moya Doherty and directed by John McColgan, the full-length show opened in February 1995 in the Point Theatre, Dublin and Riverdance has performed across the UK where it has been experienced by over 2.9 million people in well over 1000 performances in 18 cities.

The worldwide TV audience for Riverdance is in excess of two billion people.

Moya Doherty said: “2010 will mark the show's 15th anniversary and, since 1995, the success of Riverdance in the UK has gone beyond our wildest dreams.

“The fact that the show continues to draw and excite audiences is a tribute to every dancer, singer, musician, staff and crew member who have dedicated themselves to the show.

“We look forward to this farewell tour of the UK as it was always our intention to end on a high note.”

Tickets are from 24.50 and are on sale from 9.30am at the Ipswich Regent theatre box office on 01473 433100 or online at www.ipswichregent.com
