GABRIELLE the UK's biggest selling female artist of 2000 is performing in front of a packed house at the Regent in Ipswich tonight.

Her return comes as she continues to bask in the glory of a sold out 32 date European tour and a third album Rise which has sold in excess of 1.2 million copies in the UK alone.

That is not to mention the success of the single Out of Reach her contributing track to the Bridget Jones' Diary soundtrack one of the biggest grossing movies of the year.

Her appearance at the theatre illustrates the popularity of its live shows.

Over the next 12 days The Regent has nine sell-outs – that's the fantastic record in the run up to Christmas.

There's not a spare seat in the house tonight and tomorrow for pop diva Gabrielle.

In addition virtuoso violinist Vanessa-Mae has also sold out on Sunday.

The story's the same on November 21 for Jools Holland and for the comic duo Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson who make up Bottom on 25th, 26th and 27th.

More proof that Suffolk people have a good sense of humour: all Jack Dee tickets have gone for his shows on November 28th and 30th.

Billy Brennan, Ipswich Borough Council's Entertainment & Arts Manager, said: "This is great news for music and comedy fans across the region and proves that The Regent has something for everyone. We've got some excellent shows on at the moment and the Co-op Juniors are still to come."

Looking further ahead, legions of air guitarists from all over East Anglia will flock to The Regent on December 8 to see Status Quo. All tickets are now sold.
