LACK of policing under the Labour Government is the reason for vandalism and troubles in Ipswich, claimed Conservative Shadow Police Minister Jim Paice today.

LACK of policing under the Labour Government is the reason for vandalism and troubles in Ipswich, claimed Conservative Shadow Police Minister Jim Paice today.

Mr Paice and Conservative Candidate Paul West met war widow Cathie Bankier at her Raeburn Road home today after the Evening Star reported at her plight at the hands of vandals.

Her home was attacked twice on Remembrance Sunday when a brick was thrown through her back door and front window adding to a catalogue of attacks she has suffered over the years.

Mr Paice today blamed Labour Leadership in the town for the last nine years and said that more police presence was needed to combat the problem.

He said that under Conservative Leadership the problem of police levels would be tackled and the amount of hours police spend in administration would be looked at.

He added that for every arrest three and a half hours administration work was needed and said that there should be more police out on the streets.

He assured Mr Bankier that the Conservatives would increase a police presence in the area.

He added that he wanted to see communities being built. He said: "If you get a community to feel pride and report matters to the police, then the problems should be solved."
