Printmaking lessons are on offer in Ipswich this month.

The art form, used by artists as diverse as Da Vinci, Gaugin, Picasso and Grayson Perry, makes pictures and designs by printing them from specially prepared plates or blocks.

From January 16, the Tower Street Print Project, run by Oyster, will launch five week courses as well as hosting half-day ‘have a go’ sessions on Saturday mornings and a more advanced group for experienced printmakers.

Al Smyth, artistic director, said: “We show people who have no previous experience of printmaking how to create lino-cuts and etchings in a friendly, social atmosphere, so that they can create their own wonderful art.

“We also work with printmakers who want to develop their own art and need somewhere to access equipment and technical support.”
